The Disney Dining Plan Explained

Disney World Offers a number of Unique dining experiences.

From snack options through to fine dining.

The Disney dining plan is a pre-paid method of paying for your meals before you go.

There are 3 different plans to choose from.

Plan 1 is the quick service plan:

2 quick-service meals

2 snacks

1 refillable mug

Plan 2 is the Regular Dining

1 table-service meal

1 quick-service meal

2 snacks

1 refillable mug

Plan 3 Deluxe Dining

3 meals (any combination of table-service and quick-service)

2 snacks

1 refillable mug

Starting with the quick service option every one over the age of 2 years old will receive these meals per day

Two Quick Service Meals, per night of your resort stay

Two Snack's per night of your resort stay

One refillable mug

What does Disney consider a "quick service meal"?

Well – it includes an entrée and non-alcoholic beverage & these are walk up dining places you will find all around Disney World.

You also get a re-fillable mug for the duration of your stay.

This will provide you with un-limited re fills from the drink stations at your resort..

If you are heading off to explore different resorts take your mug with you. As you will be able to fill it at any resort for free.

But you will not be able to use it in the parks.

There are some really great quick Service restaurants that you will get some awesome food from.

The Regular Dining Plan explained.

1 table service entitlement, per night of your resort stay. The table service meal will include an entrée, dessert and non-alcoholic beverage per guest.

1 counter service entitlement, per night of your resort stay. The counter service meal includes the same things outlined for the quick service dining plan.

2 snacks, per night of your resort stay

1 refillable mug, per guest

As with the quick service you get the un-limited re-fill mug.

But now you also get 1 table service meal per day of your vacation.

This is where if you are not an American it can get confusing.

In the USA it is customary to tip at a service restaurant.

Now Disney suggest an 18% figure, so you will need to budget this in for all service meals.

There are many different table service locations at the parks & resorts.

These are the 1 table credit locations.

The last of the three plans is the Deluxe Dining plan. Anyway, the Deluxe Dining plan will include for each guest over the age of 2:

  • 3 meals, per night of your resort stay

  • 2 snacks, per night of your resort stay

  • 1 refillable mug

What sets this plan apart from the Quick Service and Plus Dining plans is the way the meal credits are used.

With the deluxe dining plan, there's absolutely no distinction between a counter service meal and a table service meal. If you use a meal entitlement at a table service location, you will be able to order an appetizer, entrée, dessert and non-alcoholic beverage. All of it will be covered by your dining plan. For all meals that require 2 table service entitlements on the Plus Dining plan, you will need 2 meal entitlements on the deluxe dining plan as well.

This plan I believe is ideal for those looking for unique dining experiences & there are many at Disney world.

  • Guests planning on doing a lot of table service meals that are considered signature dining

  • You can plan on a sit down breakfast in the morning, a light lunch of something using a snack credit, and then a signature dinner.

For anybody else, this plan is almost certain to be too much food, too much money and require too much time. If you've got kids under the age of 10 just itching to get to a ride, they will be disappointed if they are being dragged to a restraint because of a reservation.

Good Luck!
