Our Stay at Fort Wilderness Campground

We stayed at fort Wilderness in August 2016 for 2 weeks.

This is the address:

Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground address: 4510 N. Fort Wilderness Trail Lake Buena Vista, FL, 32830-1000 407-824-2900

We stayed at one of the cabins on property in loop 2500.

The cabin will sleep 6 people, with a double bed & 2 bunks in the 1 bedroom & a sofa bed that sleeps 2 in the living area.

There is a full bathroom, with hair dryer, and a living/dining kitchen area. This area has a sofa and TV/DVD. The dining area has seating for 6. You'll also be provided with an iron/ironing board. The cabins come with a full size fridge with ice maker, dish washer & a combination microwave oven that acts as a normal oven. You will also get a stove top & all the utensils to use in a kitchen plus a coffee maker & toaster.

Outside the cabin is a small deck area with a charcoal bbq you can use.

There is also parking for 1 car & an electrical hook up for a golf cart(this I would recommend hiring whilst at fort Wilderness)

All cabins have a telephone & free wifi.

When checking into the Cabins, guests must park at the Reception outpost building and check in at the front desk there.

The site has a restriction on the use of vehicles & you can only drive to your cabin once on property.

There are 2 pools at Fort Wilderness the main pool is at Meadow recreation area & the second quieter poll is located by loops 2500, 2700 & 2600. We found this pool quiet all the time we were there. At one point it felt like our own personal pool.

This is a big resort & walking around can be tiring if you do not have a golf cart.

But there are alternatives like bicycle hire or the use of an internal bus system.

As you might expect "being in the wild", there are rabbits, turkeys, geese, deer, armadillos, and peacocks roaming the grounds. We got to see the turkeys & armadillos whilst we were there.

The Settlement Recreation Area is on Bay Lake and includes the marina, beach, Pioneer Hall and the Tri-Circle-D Ranch Mickey's Backyard BBQ & Trails End Restaurant.

The Settlement Trading Post sells gifts, groceries, snacks and drinks.

The Meadows Recreation Area is in the centre of camp grounds.

This area includes the Bike Barn and the Fort Wilderness waterways and bicycle trails. Swimming, tennis, volleyball and shuffleboard are all available at the Meadows Recreation area. The Meadows Trading Post is similar to the Settlement Trading Post, but includes a deli as well.

On site here there are 2 unique dining experiences, Mickey's Backyard BBQ & The Hoop de doo review. Both are all you can eat fares with music & a show.

You also have the Trails end Restaurant that offers an all you can eat buffet of American fare.

At the side of trails end there is a take out section called P & J's southern takeout.

At the Settlement there is also a bar Crockets Tavern where you can relax & have a drink on the front porch.

On site here there area some great entertainment to be had.

Every evening at the Meadow recreation area you can Meet Chip n Dale, listen to Music & watch a movie.

There is a a ranch on site the Tri Circle D. Here you get to meet the horses that pull the carriages with the princes on at Magic Kingdom.

All in all this is a great resort with plenty of recreational things to do. And it's only a short boat ride from the Magic Kingdom park.

We would get up early every morning & just travel around the site on our Golf cart. It's a great way to catch glimpses of the local wildlife.
